Hi, I'm Kristin
I grew up in Milton and am a proud graduate of the Milton High School class of '99. I returned to Milton in 2011 after my husband finished his cardiology fellowship at Duke Medical Center. We chose to make Milton our home because of the excellent public schools and our love for the community. I have two girls who attend Glover and Pierce Middle School.
After graduating Milton High School I went on to get my nursing degree at Boston College (Go Eagles!). I am a heart failure nurse at Brigham and Women's Hospital and have previously worked at BIDMC.
I have served as a pre-school board member and enjoyed teaching faith formation at St. Elizabeth's. I was involved with Milton Goes Gold for childhood cancer event in 2019 as a proud cancer mom.
WHY I SUPPORT KRISTIN
"Please support my sister, Kristin Kociol, for school Committee. Kristin is a loving, smart and dedicated sister, nurse and mom to my two nieces.
I graduated from Milton High School in 2006. I am in my eighth year of teaching third grade in a nearby district. My husband, Adam Dovovan, also grew up in Milton (MHS Class of '07) and has been on the Milton Fire Department for 8 years."
OUR KIDS, THEIR FUTURE
I have learned a great deal about the school system while advocating for a safe return to school. I hope to continue my involvement once the children are back in their classrooms. The District faces serious challenges that need to be addressed immediately, such as overcrowding, budget cuts and ensuring our children's emotional and learning needs are addressed once they return to the classroom. I aim to wisely invest in addressing these issues in a sustainable fashion. I believe this will lead to long-term growth and success for our schools and our community.
As we continue to navigate educating our children in the midst of COVID-19, I believe having a medical professional who is dedicated to our children is critical. My career requires me to interpret medical research to provide the best care for my patients. That is what I plan to do if elected for the School Committee. I will put in the time to apply the same skills when it comes to emotional and educational well-being of our children, faculty and staff.
